Chaotic! Go from one extreme to the other. The company can not seem to find a happy medium.

I have been working at EZCORP

    Pros

There are some very wonderful peers I work with.

    Your paycheck does not bounce.

    Cons

Senior management is quick to throw store managers under the bus after the store manager goes above and beyond by working at other stores and/or does special projects for Senior management. When the store manager then needs something in return senior management will "forget" how you went the extra mile for them. They want a lot and give very little.

Big Con-Local Store Marketing. Lower and middle management knows it is ineffective but lack the courage to tell this to senior management, consequently, the same marketing keeps being done with different results expected. (definition of insanity)

Senior management only cares what you did for them right now. They forget how you went the extra mile last week. also see first item on this list.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have to give and not just take.

Need to actually follow your stated core values and not just give it lip service. Many employees feel the core values are not worth the paper they are printed on and also consider the center of the universe program laughable. Actions speak louder than words!

    I worked at EZCORP

    Pros

If you live close, commute can be short
You may also get lucky with salary. Not tied to ability, contribution or effort.

    Cons

There are some good people there but most leave soon.
There are some toxic people in influential positions at a few levels.
The culture is very much point fingers and "cya".
Unable to effectively manage projects/priorities. Bring in consultants and let them manage themselves. Insult, berate and threaten employees rather than develop them. QA? 2 letters in the alphabet. and most likely, they don't belong.
Benefits - if you are able to determine what they are - are weak. Have you ever worked anywhere where you pass anyone from HR in the hallway and they look down at the floor instead of saying hi to you? I'm not the only one at ezcorp who has.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Finish what you started is probably not it.
