I have been working at EarthLink full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Not many. The paychecks have not bounced and it is a way to get practical work experience. They also give you some days off depending on how long you have been with the company. 10 -25 days, which is actually pretty good, given the current economic reality out there. At least it is a job, which is more than some have right now. however, that being said, it does not mean it does not suck.

    Cons

It is a mess. morale is low, management got their bonuses and 2 weeks later decided they could not give merit raises so are giving essentially a 25 cent raise to those who do not qualify for a bonus. All the talk of one big Earthlink culture is fiction. It is like being a second class citizen at times. The system integration is not working so the planned migration was pushed out again, but despite this, and the fact that everyone has to navigate as many as 5-6 systems to complete an individual order, they are still report driven and expect no losses in productivity. they cannot even go by a basic report, there are multiple reports for different situations, but all of them are priorities so they are essentially running around in panic mode and everything has to be done now. They do not care how just get it done. Be prepared to CYA every step of the way as well because the rule of the day there is to toss each other under the bus when something goes wrong. Training is non existent and always something that will be addressed, but never is. They have no appreciation, do not even pay their own established pay grades, and have out right lied and made promises that have never materialized. They shipped a bunch of jobs overseas as well and then moved the employees around to fill positions with no training. HR is not there to help the employees as much as help management walk the razors edge with what they can get away with. you are trapped in your position, there are only lateral moves no upward ones. the concept right now is to work harder, not smarter, keep your mouth shut, and don't ask questions. People take their knowledge and experience and bolt out the door as soon as an opportunity comes up. The Upper management should be embarrassed and ashamed. Anyone giving a positive review here must have qualified for a bonus. Speaking with them they are quite happy with things. They are truly clueless. The rest of us are fried by the constant exercises in futility.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

back to square one and regroup.if something is not working, it is not working, move on. how many times are you going to bang your head against the wall expecting a different result? too many cooks not enough waiters. get rid of some of the management. get rid of some of the reports. merge a system at a time, then move on to the next system, instead of all at once in a failed step by step plan. show some appreciation for your staff. any success you are having is not due to the management team. maybe you should not pay out bonuses until you give everyone a raise, then see how much is left instead of the other way around. Real training link u is of no help, nor is it practical. I could go on, but they will not do any of this anyways, so why bother. Anyone with half a brain can see what needs to be done to turn this around, but that would mean being proactive and setting the standard instead of following the leader. Rolla needs to wake up. It is going to get worse at the rate they are going before it gets better.

I worked at EarthLink full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great branch manager and local teammates

    Cons

Constant turn-over. 3 salespeople fired my first month with the company. EarthLink seems to hate salespeople. Not sure how they expect to gain new business. F 2F Training is decent but most training by webex which is terrible. Average length of time of sales person in my office was less than 6 months.
