    Pros

There are various programs offered to assist both children and adults with disabilities in many ways. I work with the first-time home buyer's seeking down payment assistance in need of taking the HUD-approved Home Buyer's Education course. Our location provides down payment assistance to households which have someone with a disability living in the home to be purchased. The Housing Department also provides financial education workshops to help individuals learn how to improve their budgeting skills or not home ownership is desired. All programs in this department are offered free of charge.

    Cons

    Only a 4-day work week

    Advice to Management

Thank you for providing so many programs which benefit all individuals with disabilities.

    Pros

Although Easter Seals is a non-profit orgainzation, they offer competitive salaries & benefits for their staff. In spite of dificult economic times, ES strives to to show appreciation & gratitude to staff for the work they do.

    Cons

The contract they have with the state to operate our program, does not appear to take into consideration the growth pattern that has been demonstrated in previous years. This often leads to being understaffed for the number of families being served.

    Advice to Management

Negotiate the contract based on the expected number of participants, with stipulations on budget increases built in to accomodate additional growth. This would allow for hiring new staff & initiate training in preparation. Quality of services that are expected by Easter Seals programs, would not be sacrificed, & program recipients would continue to receive the quality services they deserve.
