Eastman Kodak – “Isn't Kodak a US based company?”

Pros

Kodak HAD a great reputation as a good strong "American" company, with pride and loyalty promoting good American design and manufacturing quality processes and procedures.
They give you a very enlightening and inspiring book about the founder, George Eastman (but I think it may not have been distributed to upper management).

Cons

Level of outsourcing is disgraceful. Managers refuse to acknowledge all of the outsourcing stories that have gone bad and just continue to stick our fingers into the fan.
High-level management has no long term regard for preservation.
Communication ("your voice heard") is non-existent. Non-management employees have no voice period.

Advice to Senior Management

Communicate down through your employees, go see what they do and where they work, walk into those buildings and labs that you have never seen.
When the company is struggling, instead of knee jerk layoffs and outsourcing some simple things like suspending high-level promotions would be appropriate, don't you think?
When you layoff some percentage of working class personnel, you should also layoff that same percentage of managers and the company would not now be in a obscenely out of proportion management to non-management ratio. CEO and high level management salaries are OBSCENE compared to employee averages.
The person in charge of the corporation should live in the community of the company headquarters, it's hard to respect one that doesn't.
George Eastman was an American, he founded the company using Americans, focus on trying to make changes to make and design products with Americans.
Visualize the silhouette of a big man with a big head(CEO) and a big belly(middle and upper management). here have been reductions after reductions in non-management for the last 3 years in in the toes, ankles and legs. How long do you think the man will stay standing if all cuts are at the bottom.
