I have been working at Eaton Aerospace full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Money was good, and they gave me an impressive job title, but this spoiled me for my next job!

Cons

Eaton believes they are god's gift to ethics and tries to make their employees believe so, but they won't tell you about their backhanded deals, political lobbying(go check influence explorer, Eaton says they give no political donations, which is a blatent lie) or their illegal benefits policies. (Multiple HIPAA violations) As an engineer, Eaton's pedestrian pace of research & development was extremely frustrating, and their policy of financially penalizing 'high risk' new business(i.e. charging startups more than established companies) has unfairly screwed over more than one independant business venture - Eaton deliberately prices themselves out of reach for many new projects so they don't have to hire new personnel. Also, don't be lulled into the illusion that this is one large worldwide company, Eaton is a loose federation of independant businesses with a common letterhead, many of which directly compete with each other for resources and personnel, there is no cohesion or sense of unity even though they would have you believe it's all just 'one Eaton', each individual business fends for itself just like it had to before it was 'acquired' by Eaton, Eaton itself is just a holding company, which grows only through acquisitions, not through technology.

Advice to Management

Stop pretending to be ethical, show some honesty and transparency, admit your mistakes to your employees, then sort out your miserable benefits system - treating the employee like the enemy doesn't make people feel appreciated. Finally, look after your flock, and pay attention to your competitors, you're WAY behind the curve...

I have been working at Eaton Aerospace full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Get to work with products used in a variety of commercial and military applications Exposure to information systems and manufacturing business systems Teamwork skills can be built Lots to learn about manufacturing. If interested in becoming an engineer; you can see them in action every day. Benefits; particularly for college students including: Medical, Dental, 401K, Tuition Reimbursement Overtime Available Proactive in avoiding accidents and protecting employees against harmful chemicals

    Cons

Workers sometimes get ostracized for declining to work overtime Two 10 minute breaks and a 30 minute lunch make for a waste of 50 minutes of your day Those producing heavy volumes tend to get more pressure to work overtime Goals are ambiguous for those low on the totem pole; definitely somewhat of a con for goal oriented folks.

    Advice to Management

Exercise ideas given to you from the guys and gals on the floor. Get involved with production. When there are hangups on the assembly line it can get frustrating for us little people. If there are eyes and ears nearby, issues can get fixed faster, people will stay happier, and some of the overtime that chews into the weekend can be avoided.
