I worked at Eaton

Pros

At the sales office, the dress code is casual depending on when you go meet clients. You get out of the office enough such that you are not just sitting at your desk all the time. Friendly people, and the management is very easy to talk to.

Cons

Some of the work that is required can be mundane as you are reading over the requirements and creating quotes.

    I worked at Eaton

    Pros

Good entry point into electrical industry
    Interesting challenges
    Good peer atmosphere

    Cons

Lack of leadership at senior levels
    Sub-par support functions
Lack of interest in developing people

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Eaton is a company with outdated practices and lack of investment in both development of people and support functions for engineering and marketing.
It is a good place to learn the business and gain industry and technical knowledge...but do not expect any sort of career progression if you do not get promoted within the first 2-3 years, it is not a meritocracy in any way, shape, or form.
It is part of the culture and acceptable as long as you determine what you want early on and have options.
Management should be aware, qualified engineers and marketers in some of the fields Eaton competes are scarce, especially if it takes years to learn the business and technical practices, but treat employees as expendable.

Eaton's involvement in developing an electric vehicle charging product lines is one example of how the company is focused on the environment and the reduction of Green House Gases. Cons

There was no management involvement in the training, development and explanation of job specifications, of new employees. The lack of top down communication places new and tenured employees at a disadvantage and often results in employees having no direction and no development.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Conducting business in an ethical business is very important in today's corporate environment. Eaton maintains a high standard of ethics externally, but lacks ethics when dealing with employees. .
