I have been working at Eaton full-time (more than a year)

Pros

- a focus on ethics. Eaton makes this a priority, and it shows: the culture here is that we always act ethically
- opportunities: being large and diverse, there is always room for lateral or vertical moves, regardless of the economy. Of you are talented, you'll have a job here
- a common vision: "powering business worldwide" isn't just a tagline, it defined what we do. No matter where you go within Eaton, the focus is always on providing efficient power management needs for our customers.

Cons

- a true corporation. If you don't want to be a cog in a big institution, look elsewhere
- it can be frustrating trying to effect change, due to the large size and top-down management
- in the aerospace group, there has been a lot of organizational shift lately, which makes it difficult to consistently perform at the plant-level

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend some time at your various sites, helping them to better understand the role the play in the bigger organization

    I worked at Eaton as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

    Great intern program with good on boarding process and mentors. Lots of exposure and opportunities to meet management and people from different functions.

    Cons

    Direct supervisor was often out of the office, making it difficult to move ahead on projects sometimes. Didn't have a defined project going into the internship which made it difficult early on.

    Pros

    Adept mentoring for length of employment
    Cross-Functional Project opportunities
    Latitude to transfer into other departments/functions
    Challenging growth assignments
    Open knowledge transfer and collaboration expedites the steep learning curve to perform beyond expectations almost immediately
    A truly open-door policy for brainstorming to devise optimal solutions to complex problems
    Culture exemplifies their stated values

    Cons

    12 hour work days approximately 2-3 times a week for indirect support roles; however, personnel issues arise at untimely moments, so this reality is a widely known and accepted expectation of the role within any organization. The experience was extremely positive and allowed for both professional and personal growth.
