Former Employee - Research Associate  in  Boston, MA
Former Employee - Research Associate in Boston, MA

Pros

Relaxed work atmosphere, excellent work-life balance, coworkers friendly and kind, nice location, very little stress at work, patient management, great company cafeteria

Cons

While almost everyone is very friendly and "nice", this often leads to an inability to directly address issues which are lurking, obviously, beneath the surface. A lot goes undiscussed when it would be positive to bring it out into the light. The pace of advancement is a bit slow and the compensation is low relative to peers (although this fact is balanced by the atmosphere being more relaxed and less stressful)

Advice to ManagementAdvice

While almost everyone is very friendly and "nice", this often leads to an inability to directly address issues which are lurking, obviously, beneath the surface. A lot goes undiscussed when it would be positive to bring it out into the light. It would be positive for people to start address things that are bothering them directly and to feel encouraged to do so. It is not "nice" to hide frustrations in the long term, though in the short term it may seem that way.

Current Employee - Equity Research Associate in Boston, MA

    Pros

very good work life balance. very nice people. can learn a lot, but it depends on whether you are working for a good analyst.

    Cons

under paid versus other RAs in Boston. coverage and exposure is limited unless you work for an analyst that delegates well. No set career path. The RA program isn't finite. There are RAs that have been here for 1 year, or 7 years...no set amount of time until you get promoted or "encouraged" to go to be school.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve career progression and delegate responsibility in equity department.
