Current Employee - Program Manager II in Englewood, CO

I have been working at EchoStar full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good place to expand on skillsets in operations, technology, manufacturing, & design.
Great for experiencing manufacturing on a global scale.

    Cons

More often than not, you continually run into walls when trying to implement change from the norm. Mindset of key persons who influence product designs seems to be stale.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Inject some new blood into senior management. A company cannot grow when you continue to keep operating the same way, year in & year out.

Former Employee - Installation/Service Technician III in Denver, CO

I worked at EchoStar full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed the technical aspects of the job and working with the customers, especially the troubleshooting and challenging installations.

    Cons

Mostly the dumb rules imposed by management and they way they become more and more hostile as you progress through the steps to become an advanced technician. They would rather alienate the experienced techs so they will leave and pay someone else the beginning techs wages.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Experience should be recognized and valued by companies. The technicians at Dish Network are the main contact point with the customers, and should receive more respect within the company for their technical and people skills. The management of this company uses the 'mud on the wall' tactics where paying minimal wages is more important than experienced technicians who can resolve both technical and customer service issues.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
