I worked at Edgewood College full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Edgewood has a very strong community that is absolutely dedicated to student success. Work-life balance is good, the benefits are uniformly excellent, and the social atmosphere on the main campus is convivial and cooperative.

    Cons

The pay is very low, even among similar institutions, for non-academic positions. Parking is a perennial problem. And upper management is largely unqualified and myopic, meaning that the school has had difficulty identifying a niche in an increasingly competitive market.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your employees a fair salary and, God help you, purge the incompetents. However, since most of the incompetents are management -- kept afloat by some very dedicated, hard-working mid-level staff -- I don't know how this would ever happen. A new president might be a good start.
