Pros

If you can stick in the business, your pay will be excellent over the course of time Independence Profit sharing and profitability bonus can be very lucrative GREAT place to gain experience on many different types of assets/investments, esp for a young person looking to find a niche in the world of finance Very ethical company

Cons

VERY, very, very challenging to begin as a young person without much experience Expectations become lofty quickly People with connections often get great perks (this frustrated me immensely) You must be expecting a highly sales-based job - at times the "advice" is secondary

Advice to Management

give young advisors without connections a leg up realize that when the economy/market is poor, sales are extremely difficult (expectations do not change)

    Pros

Edward Jones puts a great deal of effort into your success and gives you everything you need to make yourself successful.

    Cons

Even if the company gives you training, it was a little lacking on personal supervision. I would have liked to work in an office with a seasoned Financial Advisor for 3 - 6 months before on my own.

    Advice to Management

When the economy is hard, give the new Advisors a little wiggle room.

    Pros

Great Office Great Cafeteria Good Teamwork Quality training sessions prepared each employee for many different situations. Free parking at the office.

    Cons

Low bonuses and promotions Too conservative Lack of intelligent management in the department The job titles place every worker into a slot and it brings on complacency

    Advice to Management

Find a better way for exceptional employees to get promoted quicker.
