I have been working at Edward Jones full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great support to become licensed, conservative values

    Cons

No work/life balance, cult like culture, lots of scripts, health insurance lacks negotiating power with providers, technology and tools are limited

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Decision making processes in recruiting and placement into offices need to be restructured to identify staffing opportunities, "ownership" messages to advisors should be objective, more effort in diversity and technology

I worked at Edward Jones full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great training and support
Ability to work out of your own office
Responsive support staff in Tempe and St. Louis
Yearly regional meetings that get you in a good position to plan your business

    Cons

    Door Knocking
As a new advisor, you are almost forced to sell commission generating products due to revenue goals Edward Jones places on new advisors. No real opportunity to develop a fee-based business early on.
A TON of work early on, with little return. Very high attrition.
Edward Jones rips off new advisors. Low pay-out. As a general partner/limited partner, they take a pretty significant portion or revenue generated by the advisor, especially on insurance products. GP and LP's are pretty happy though.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow new advisors opportunity to build a fee-based business. The industry is going away from commissions due to inherit conflict of interests.
