I worked at Edward Jones full-time (more than a year)

Pros

Really good training on the basics of your business. They will give you the step by step guide on how to start a financial advisor business.

Cons

You have to be connected or have good timing to get an office to take over. If you start from scratch, chances are, you will not make it.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make the option to move into an office more available.

    Pros

Their training for the series 7 and the 66 allowed me to pass on the first try. I hear this is not the case at competitive companies.

    Cons

Company needs to adapt more to having women as financial advisors

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More work/life balance needed if you want to attract high quality female candidates.

    Pros

Surrounded by professional people and the company culture is great.

    Cons

Lots of door to door canvassing required to create new business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

May want to look for new ways to train advisors other than door to door canvassing as this seems to have become a bit antiquated as times have changed as well as no soliciting laws.
