Good to get started and learn to be independent. You work for them and they own your business.

I worked at Edward Jones full-time (more than a year)

Pros

Really good training on the basics of your business. They will give you the step by step guide on how to start a financial advisor business.

Cons

You have to be connected or have good timing to get an office to take over. If you start from scratch, chances are, you will not make it.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make the option to move into an office more available.

I worked at Edward Jones full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Their training for the series 7 and the 66 allowed me to pass on the first try. I hear this is not the case at competitive companies.

    Cons

Company needs to adapt more to having women as financial advisors

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More work/life balance needed if you want to attract high quality female candidates.

I have been working at Edward Jones full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great training as you advance in your practice, outstanding peer support, amazing opportunity if you are willing to do the work.

    Cons

Tough in the first few years, work life balance is nearly impossible until you have established yourself in the community.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have the regional leaders or location specialists do a thorough analysis of the location for new branches. I am in an area where there were two new advisors ahead of me and and two new advisors behind me, all within a two year time frame. Made for a very difficult prospecting experience.
