I have been working at Edward Jones full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Commission is at 40%, Profit Sharing, 401K, Two trips available to win every year, trimester bonuses. Most FA's are extremely helpful. Clients are excellent. One phone call away from Home Office at all times.

Cons

If you don't do the work, you won't make it. But, EJ gives the recipe, all you have to do is follow it.

    Pros

Get great real world experience of being a financial advisor.
Pretty good pay. Get to actually work with clients on investments.
They pay you to study at home for Series 7 & 66.
Get to speak with top producing FAs in firm.

    Cons

In FACD the supervisors try to put fear in you, that if you don't score well on role plays, you could be fired. No commissions on what you sell in FACD. Program can drag on and get boring in the later stages.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Somehow incorporate the FACD FAs to work with prospects that they actually develop into clients and earn the commissions.

I worked at Edward Jones full-time

    Pros

Great culture, everyone helps everyone else to succeed, great on going training and very friendly.

    Cons

Very difficult to succeed as a new FA. Starting from scratch with zero assets will take a lot of energy, great sales techniques, confidence and a lot of perseverance and it helps to have a fair amount of savings to get you through the sparse months.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find a way to spread out the available assets to all the new FA's rather than just giving them to a few.
