Pros

Outstanding products, challenging projects, technically competent people working here.
Growth has been phenomenal
Nice facility overall
Good location, closer to all infrastructure.
Generous expense with AMEX account

Cons

Politics & relations rule at this place. Be aware & I am NOT making this up.
Ignore all the fantasies, parties, privileges that they give you. They are mainly paint-coating to get you in the company before they squueze you to death.
Layoffs happen periodically every 2-3 years whether business is good or bad.
Make sure once you get in the door & work here: back up your PC every week. Employees who resign going to competitors, laid off or fired are escorted out the door the same day. You will not have much time to remove your personal files.
Upper & middle management only worry for themselves & their primary objectives (KOD's) which lead to their hefty bonuses end of year. They could care less about the people that put in well over 40 hr a week year after year after year.
The management expect you to work from home in the evening & on weekend & even through the holidays to meet their KOD objectives.
The parking & traffic around the facility is horrific. If you are late to work (like 8:30 AM), you will spend 20 minute to park & walk to your office
Last advice: when you quit EW going to competitors, do not tell the boss & HR so. Just say you are taking a breather & look for jobs later. They will leave u alone for your last 2 week notice & won't harass you.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The management should listen to employees & be less selfish. Focus on new technologies before losing the edge to competitors. Many scientists, engineers will defect & benefit competitors. Mike Mussallem should put his upper management people on unemployment line for 60 days then bring back so they know what it is like to be ordinary citizens. They will then treat their employees much better

I have been working at Edwards Lifesciences

    Pros

Edwards is a real progressive company in recent years after losing edges to competitors like Medtronics, StJude.
The company willing to spend money for their employees to have fun (lunches, snacks, holiday parties) in many meetings. The company frequently invites doctors, clients, elected officials come over for big parties in the evenings. I have never seen company that has as many parties like EW.

    Cons

The upper management really get lost when it comes to promoting people. They promoted the ones who did the least work & screamed the most. They left the unsung heros in the dust. Even when they promoted those ppl, they joined the bad gang of upper mgmnt.
When things falling through the drain, these management looked for scape goats & scrapped the projects & forced out the scape goats.
A lot of red tapes & accomplishments are excessively slow. Too many procecedures to deal with. Politics are very excessive here. If you want to survive here, shut your mouth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A lot of good people working here. Money can't buy everything. Reducing politics should be #1 priority then reducing red tapes & bureaucracy,

    Pros

    - Great benefits.
    - Stock is doing great!
    - New CIO – hopefully things will change for the best.
    - Schedule is somewhat flexible, as long as you work your 10 hours a day.

    Cons

    - Lack of career development plans.
    - Hard to find balance work and life.
    - Very political.
    - Lack of project management specialists – anyone can be appointed to manage a project, regardless of project management experience.
    - Employee recognition varies for which business unit/project you work in, not necessarily on performance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Hire project management specialists, or invest in training.
    - New project requests should be handled, or at least overseen, by management.
