Great place to learn new things; just take forever to get it done (if ever)

R&D Engineer (Current Employee)
Irvine, CA

I have been working at Edwards Lifesciences

ProsEdwards is a real progressive company in recent years after losing edges to competitors like Medtronics, StJude.
The company willing to spend money for their employees to have fun (lunches, snacks, holiday parties) in many meetings. The company frequently invites doctors, clients, elected officials come over for big parties in the evenings. I have never seen company that has as many parties like EW.

ConsThe upper management really get lost when it comes to promoting people. They promoted the ones who did the least work & screamed the most. They left the unsung heros in the dust. Even when they promoted those ppl, they joined the bad gang of upper mgmnt.
When things falling through the drain, these management looked for scape goats & scrapped the projects & forced out the scape goats.
A lot of red tapes & accomplishments are excessively slow. Too many procecedures to deal with. Politics are very excessive here. If you want to survive here, shut your mouth.

Advice to Senior ManagementA lot of good people working here. Money can't buy everything. Reducing politics should be #1 priority then reducing red tapes & bureaucracy,
