Former Employee - General Manager in Chicago, IL

    Pros

    Decent work hours fun employees

    Cons

Being a GM you worked no matter what was going on. You could not take vacation because of the shortage in mgmt. ABM do not help you when they always say if you need help let me know. I would not recommend this being a long term employment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sit and get to know who is actually working for you and doing what they can and not letting senior mgmt. play favoritism.

    Former Employee - Shift Manager/Baker

    Pros

Has potential to be a fun, fast-paced work environment...Potential to grow within company if you fit their needs...No late nights...Easy menu to learn...Good first job

    Cons

Corporate management, non-management staff unappreciated. District managers do not make a true effort to complement hourly staff or get to know them beyond their name in any way, instead focusing only on faults.
You can work here for years without a raise and 25 CENT raises are very common. It is insulting that they think a 25 cent raise would really make a difference to someone, let alone motivate them to work harder.
    Constantly changing menu.
Constantly told to work harder/do more work making same amount of pay/hours.
Recent implementation of reusable egg boats require constant cleaning since they don't give you enough to even get through an entire, moderately busy day. Stain easily and take a whole sink up just to get them clean. When you are told you still should be out thirty minutes after closing (on the schedule you have an hour) this takes time that you already don't have. Not to mention prep people have to make eggs twice some days. Often there is not enough staff to properly clean the store and serve the customers in a timely manner. This leads to long lines and dissatisfied people, employees told to move faster. Company doesn't seem to understand you have to spend money to make it and keep your guests coming back.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest more in making your floor staff feel appreciated. Keep good help by giving decent pay. You want adults to work full-time for you, but expect them to live off of $8/hour. Allowing tips would make customer relations/courtesy increase.
