I worked at Eisai -New Jersey

Pros

CEO of US is a great leader. Executives were generally accessible. It was an organization that valued contributions and new ideas. People worked well together when the organization was growing.

Cons

As the organization got larger, it forgot to treasure its best assets. Did not promote its own culture and new influences created a highly combative atmosohere. Allowed a good ole boys network to under value the contributions of women and minorities. Executives struggle with long-range view and preparation.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Live your values, from top to bottom, CEO needs a strong second to model the way. Executive accessibility is important. And treat the contributions of who in with more value.

    Pros

Some strong researchers in oncology clinical development

    Cons

A CEO who cannot assemble a sentence with correct grammar or syntax and spends town halls joking with sales reps while turning his pants pockets inside out when the topic of reimbursement arises
Decisions made by completely absent Japanese overseers
Hypocrisy and patent disregard for pt benefit
Promotions need objective, consistent criteria rather than downsizing eliminating 2 VP positions to create and re-hiring laid off VP cuz he was a nice guy

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Never assume your employees are stupid or you will soon find yourself only with stupid employees
Hold all managers at all levels accountable
Create opportunity within the organization or talent will find it elsewhere

I worked at Eisai -New Jersey full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

A smaller Pharma company with a great company culture. Overall a great place to work.

    Cons

Their lack of a pipeline with drugs that actually came to market. Aricept was their life blood and when that went generic, the whole company started to crumble.
