I have been working at Elance-oDesk full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

You work from home and you work with some great people.

Cons

You get nothing working for them. No benefits, sick time, vacation time, flexibility you normally get with a work from home job, and you are absolutely replaceable.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care more about the people you employ and maybe they will work harder for you.

I have been working at Elance-oDesk full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Great work-life balance (especially those work from home Wednesdays)
    - Opportunities to work on projects with cross functional teams - managers are pretty open to allowing participation just as long as your main job duties are performed
    - Still has a startup essence (i.e., you are expected to take on various responsibilities even if it doesn't fit under your position) where you get to wear different hats and learn on the job
    - Transparent upper management - we have weekly metrics meetings and monthly all-hands meetings where upper management has the opportunity to share hard numbers and expresses how they feel the company is doing

    Cons

    - HR hasn't done much to merge the two company cultures (there are still a strong presence of two separate cultures)
    - There is no clear route for advancement

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider career advancement opportunities to existing employees prior to looking at external candidates.

I have been working at Elance-oDesk full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The work is endlessly interesting. We're actually changing how people work, and in turn how they live.
You get to have an impact on something really meaningful: work and people's livelihoods
We're in a high-growth market and have barely scratched the surface.
    People are really smart.
People are very team-oriented and collaborative.

    Cons

Since the merger between Elance and oDesk, it does feel like a bigger company (in fact, it is)
