I have been working at Electronic Arts full-time for more than 8 years

Pros

+ Still have a lot of experienced, knowledgeable people that will give you the time of day
+ Onsite Cafes & Frequent Food Truck Visits
+ Gym, Daycare, etc.
+ Doesn't seem as crunchy as it used to be (depends on team)
+ Seem to have a good mix of experienced people and new hires/grads

Cons

So many departments, divisions, locations...can be challenging to get your work done. I hear a lot of people say that they can get more done in a couple hours before/after work than they can during the balance of the work day where time is spent in meetings or helping other people.

Company functions a bit like trying to win a boat race in a cruise ship. People know what needs to be done for their division, but trying to steer the entire company in that direction is a fruitless exercise.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Still need to improve customer relationship. Effort is there, but all the good that happens behind the scenes is often washed away by a silly public facing gaffe.

I worked at Electronic Arts as a contractor for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great gym, great commute and great people.

    Cons

The new CTO and technical organization is not in touch with the requirements of the business and systems stakeholders.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to align the goals of the business with the horrible mismanagement of the new CTO and his organization.

Fast-paced and superdynamic environment, tight turnarounds -- but "work hard, play hard"

I have been working at Electronic Arts full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Lots of cool perqs for full-time employees like free onsite gym access, free digital and physical games, beautiful facilities, and all kinds of outreach and organizational opportunities. Work hours in my department are flexible and my peers are creative, intelligent, hardworking people. Fun and interesting to work in the video game industry.

    Cons

Major deploys or product announcements mean long hours for weeks at a time (10-12+ hour days, sometimes weekends). Lack of organization/forward planning by development teams results in severe production crunch further down the line.
