I have been working at Electronic Arts as a contractor for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Great colleagues
    - Good workspace

    Cons

There is a great frustration in the air at EA's Bucharest offices because the employees are separated by their type of contract:

    > CONTRACTORS (first was MANPOWER then SMARTREE): Three quarters of the employees have this type of contract. It can vary from a few weeks contract (QA Tester position) to a 1 year contract (BSOC, IT, HR, Service Desk, Development, Marketing, Finance, RPM, HPS). YOU HAVE NO BENEFITS WITH THIS TYPE OF CONTRACT EXCEPT FOR THE MEAL TICKETS ! IT MEANS YOU WILL GET THE LOWEST POSSIBLE SALARY ON THE MARKET FOR THAT POSITION + MEAL TICKETS.
    > TFT (temporary contract directly with EA): this type of contract is usually found in the QA (Console - CDS) department, the RPM department. It is similar to the SMARTREE contract when it comes to benefits.
    > RFT (permanent contract with EA): Only a few percentage of the employees have this type of contract. Only the core employees (less than 20% of the employees) have this type of contract that comes with the following BENEFITS: Medical Insurance at Regina Maria private clinic, 10 EA games a year, Company Stocks, mobile phone with phone subscription AND ALSO THE X-MAS PARTY INVITATIONS for the employee and his companion. YES, ONLY THE EMPLOYEES THAT HAVE THIS TYPE OF CONTRACT IS INVITED TO THE COMPANY'S ANNUAL PRIVATE X-MAS PARTY!

In addition to the facts mentioned above there is also a great frustration when it comes to managers and team leaders: if you are very good on a specific position in the company, the managers/team leaders WILL MAKE SURE THAT YOU WILL STAY ON THAT POSITION. This means that if for example you want to apply for a better position in your own department, you will be REJECTED.

THESE THINGS ALONG WITH THE POOR SALARIES MAKES THIS COMPANY A VERY POOR WORKING PLACE. STAY AWAY!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn how to manage your people properly. Not all the employees are motivated by the same thing: money. Some employees are willing to sacrifice a good salary for some real career opportunities! AND IF AN EMPLOYEE THAT IS REALLY GOOD ON HIS JOB AND APPLIES FOR A BETTER POSITION, JUST GIVE HIM A CHANCE!
