Dream job working with great people, but money could be better for QA testers.

I have been working at Electronic Arts full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Environment was great and laid back. Who wouldn't want to say they work on video games and get paid for it??!!??!!

Cons

QA testers get paid very little and work lots of OT, especially as you get closer to finishing a project.

Laying off great, hard working employees just doesn't seem to make you look good. Especially when you then go with contract workers that you pay almost nothing.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop laying off good, quality employees!!!

If you're not with a hit studio, don't expect to be kept around

I have been working at Electronic Arts

    Pros

Gaming company with some brand recognition (but more for EA Sports than EA).

    Cons

You need to be a part of a hit studio - either one that is profitable or has strong IP or has the backing of a higher up exec.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The people who work for EA give their blood, sweat and tears. Before you squash their hopes and dreams, remember that they are people first & foremost.

I worked at Electronic Arts full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

There are tons of resources on hand to improve yourself if you look for them, tons of employee initiatives to be a part off, and they are very involved in the community.

Some of the best people I ever worked with in my life.

    Cons

Things easily get swept under the rug, smaller projects are often ignored and given way less resources, there is no real training for new employees offered and you are often expected to work at a higher level but will not be paid for it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Actually have new hire orientation, reward successful people and more perks for your non-Dev QA.
