Pros

Some of the best reasons to work at Lilly is that you are surrounded with a high caliber of talent. The sales environment is highly structured around team success.

Cons

Some of the largest downsides are the bureacuracy associated with working for a FDA regulated industry, the challenges on getting new blockbusters into the marketplace, and succession planning.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Innovation is a culture that needs to be established in order to level out the peaks and valleys.

I worked at Eli Lilly as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

    Excellent people, environment and compensation

    Cons

Lots of red tape but this probably is because I wasn't there long enough to really get the hang of things.

    Pros

For the most part they hire good people. Generous benefits and other perks, although these are shrinking somewhat. Work in an industry that helps improve the health of others.

    Cons

Company culture is very bureaucratic; at corporate you are in meetings all day, every day. Recent downsizing at corporate and in field sales has really hurt morale, although the field layoffs were managed well and management was pretty transparent through the process. No merit increases 2 out of the past 3 years. Facing some tremendous challenges with patent expirations looming.
