Eli Lilly Employee Review
Eli Lilly – “Bonus/Quota system a joke”
2 of 2 people found this helpfulPros
Eli Lilly offers fair pay and good benefits package. They were great about time off when I needed it and even helped me find a new position when I moved cross country.
Cons
Quotas were set by throwing darts, basically. And you were promoted and bonused by how well you did against quota. So one quarter, you're the worst sales rep, the next quarter, you're a superstar. The thing that disturbed me most: Everyone knew this, senior management, etc...and they all just kind of kept going with the flow. The Emperor wore no clothes and everyone knew it. Frozen smiles galore at all of the yearly awards meetings. 99% of the people there acknowledge that the whole thing is a joke when it comes to rankings and quota and bonuses because it was all random. And Lilly would spend all this money to reward their "Good reps" each year and spend millions on a National sales meeting. That's why your Zyprexa costs so much. So Lilly can fly me tor Orlando so I can eat steak, drink beer and laugh at the stupidity of it all.
Advice to Senior Management
Get rid of the dead weight in management and don't be afraid to fire incompetent people. Also, if you're going to promote or hire someone because they are a minority, please ensure they are remotely qualified. It's hard to respect your boss and take any direction from him if he's an absolute moron.
