    I worked at Elliott Davis

    Pros

Great team in place. Great clients and a wide variety of clients to work on. Large enough firm to provide a broad range of opportunities. Long term stability of an older establised firm.

    Cons

Management has seemed to become less and less understanding of employees needs. The firm is being run like a Big 4 factory instead of the personal, friendly firm of the past. The current leadership seems to make many mistakes in how things are communicated (or not communicated at all). The only personnel that seem to be appreciated are those that are bringing in large new clients. The morale has been very low, so it had gotten much more difficult to have a positive attitude there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more open to new ideas and communicate with your valued employees.

    I worked at Elliott Davis

    Pros

As a mid-tier firm in a medium-sized market, Elliott Davis offers new graduates the opportunity to contribute right away and participate in all aspects of the audit process. Job allows great interaction with clients, and plenty of ED staff are subsequently hired away at the 2 and 5 year marks. If you want to really immerse yourself in the community, ED allows plenty of opportunity.

    Cons

Long hours during "opportunity season", rigid corporate culture (suits every day when you're in office, promotions are tied more to experience (years) than performance), missing the "big-four" prestige on your resume and big-name client experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider implementing an incentive plan for staff (that isn't solely related to nights spent out of town). Also, stop trying to be a big-four firm and focus on your core-competencies (excellent middle-market firm and community minded)
