Great place to work, horrible reviews on this site should be taken with a grain of salt

I worked at Ellucian full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Has a start up feel and they are still figuring it out. This is not a con. Perhaps the people leaving the negative comments should look at their own performance rather than finding ways to point the finger at others for their 'horrible' experience.

Cons

Co-workers that are still hung up on the 'good old days' and have no idea what it is like to be in a modern day workforce.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember that most people that complain on sites like this are the low hanging fruit or were let go for performance reasons but blame 'the man' on keeping them down.

I have been working at Ellucian full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

There are lots of work from home oportunities which balance out the rather aggressive travel. Departments such at HR, IT, Legal, ETC. are very structured and stable.

    Cons

Focus and direction seem to have been falling into a tailspin over the past 18 months. I understand that a merging company has growing pains - but it's been well over a year now - get your act together. It is very clear that management doesn't value employees much. Benefits have been drasticaly eroded. This company currently has no idea who it is, what is values are, or what its focus is.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop constantly contradicting yourself - you have such little credability as it is. Try being atleast remotely honest with your employees. Stupid little acts of kindness towards your employees can go a long way. Disclosure is almost non-existant.

I worked at Ellucian as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

You can leave anytime. Free Soda and Coffee!

    Cons

Do not take this job through contract. You are only given one week of training, if that is what they call it and you are supporting over 140 schools. This job is not for the weak at heard. You are not be hired to stay on board for three months or more. You are hired to compete with 20 other team mates you come aboard with and will be let go after a two week trial period. Be flexible, there is no schedule time for training weeks, they change it every day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your Wiki is weak and it is hard to follow. Do not waste people's time to only try them out. Be honest with the Agencies about your schedule and let them know you are will only train for a week, after that they may be let go. Do not use brutal force or threats to the trainees, "you will be fired if you have a caller on hold for over two minutes" , its a training week, please allow some training. If you didn't want to train people, don't hire them.
