Pros

Meilleurs produits, autonomie, opportunité de travail et clients de haut niveau.

Best products, autonomy, job opportunity and high level customers

Cons

Mauvaise qualité de gestion de certaines équipes, stratégie commerciale parfois d'une autre monde.

bad quality of management for some team, commercial strategy sometime out of the world

Advice to ManagementAdvice

La direction intermédiaire est mauvaise !! Pas de suivi, pas de soutien, profite des travails en équipe et pas de stratégie. Bon produit, société avec les mauvaises personnes car elles "étaient là depuis le début".

Middle management is not good !! No follow up, no support, take benefit of their team works and no strategy. Good product, company with wrong people just due to "been there at the beginning"

I have been working at Elsevier as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

This is the leader in the corporate realm of professional reference material publishers. The size, scope and global positioning of the company gives vast latitude in leveraging your career. The growth of current employees is of great importance to management.

    Cons

Because the staff is distributed globally, and often work in remote locations, sometimes you can become isolated from your own team or group.

I have been working at Elsevier full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great benefits and opportunities to get involved in various volunteer activities that benefit the community.
A spirit of innovation throughout the company that encourages employees to put their best ideas forward.
Depending on your department and your motivation, you can climb the ranks and really make a career here.

    Cons

Yearly wage increases are not ideal and salaries often fall short of competitors.
Difficult to get new ideas off the ground and made into tangible new products
Reorgs happen often, making it hard to get solid footing when your work/responsibilities change as well.
Workloads/expectations increase regardless of being short staffed

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

take a hard look at compensation for employees and make sure salaries are in line with competitors (this is the reason many people leave)
remove under-performing employees - they are dragging their groups down
Be more flexible with work from home options
