Pros

MedAI/Elsevier is a company is always on the cutting edge of forecasting data modeling. It is an exciting field to be in and if I had been able to move to Orlando I would still be employed there. The company is in a constant expanding mode of 20% for the last 5 years and actively works at growing the company. The main objective of the company is to improve their current products, invent new products that will eventually replace the current products and constantly go after new customers while keeping currently customers happy. The president of the company is a former sales person and she know how to grow a company.

Cons

The downside of MedAI/Elsevier is that they are becoming management heavy. They will have a Program/Project Manager over two people. In some cases these people have never actually been managers and that really can be a problem as they can not deal with problems with in team dynamics.

Advice to Management

I applaud the decision to train all managers to be PM certified but they still be trained in problem management.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

A majority of the employees' friendly attitude make this a casual and fun working environment. The employee benefits are reasonable.

    Cons

Opportunity for advancement is scarce unless you're willing to relocate. Different departments follow different rules set by each department supervisor; employees not treated equally.

    Advice to Management

Work collectively in order to provide a more efficient working environment; be more open to change and employee suggestions or ideas.

    Pros

Publishing business is going through some dynamic changes,so there are interesting challenges as part of the transformation. Good benefits and work environment.

    Cons

Fits and Starts on technology investment and direction. Multiple initiatives that never made it through to final implementation. New features and enhancements for business lines, but under investment in technology upgrades, infrastructure. Inability to sunset marginal applications in the technology portfolio. IT development time-lines are unrealistic, but achieved through extraordinary efforts of a few.

    Advice to Management

Need a comprehensive review of technology portfolio and products that are supported by the various applications. Need to establish true company wide PMO office to direct investment to best projects. IT still seen as a cost/impediment rather than a partner of the business.
