Pros

Loyal employees. Great location. Fun working environment amongst peers. Solid set of products. Work hours are flexible and there is little micromanagement. Floor managers work hard and will do everything they can to help. Overall great place to work and learn.

Cons

VP wants to run the business from the golf course as opposed to building trusting relationships within the office. Quota is based off a budget number and divided amongst the reps. Economic metrics or historical performance of territories are not factored into quotas. Management's quota is lower than the combined reps quota.. Most reps do not hit quota so the OTE is completely skewed.

Advice to Management

Make quotas attainable so the hard working reps can make the money they deserve and don't have to work in constant fear of losing their job. Get in the office and show your employees your committed to building a business based on trusting relationships and not fear.

    Pros

For the most part there are alot of hard working and intelligent employees.

    Cons

Quotas are set so that the company makes it's number but very few people in sales or sales management makes their quota. Very high turnover as a result. Products are stale and in need of enhancements. Company needs to hire new Executive leadership across the board.

There is hope - but there needs to be trust.

    Pros

Embarcadero is a recognized named in the database industry. It has a strong product line. Benefits are great and the overall effort by management is okay. They do their best, but I don't know if that is really a pro?

    Cons

Pay...Pay....Pay... plus iInability to grow with the company. They don't put much weight on the team they are developing and continually hire management from outside the company. This leaves the sales, marketing, finance and engineering teams without motivation to achieve. Without motivation the work envionment is misearable - people are mean to each other and there is very little positive support.

    Advice to Management

Management does not trust its teams. They hide behind the concept of "it is just business" and many times make critical decisions without truly understanding the facts or doing their research. They need to ask harder questions of themselves and their reports. Start basing decisions on facts, not assumptions. When someone provides you with inaccurate facts, call them on it and don't let them do it again.
