I have been working at Emerson

Pros

A smaller sized with a corporate backing so it most likely isn't going to close its doors anytime soon.

Cons

Its owned by a corporation and the flexibility of a smaller firm is not there

Advice to ManagementAdvice

fire half of your management staff. Its entirely too much overhead cost.

    I worked at Emerson

    Pros

Challenging work. Always different. Co-workers on the floor are generally good people.

    Cons

Low paying compared to other similar companies. Hire you in at one rate with the promise of another rate in 90 days. When 90 days comes they get amnesia. No tolerance for anyone who cannot work all the required hours for any reason. One man worked there for 10 years, his nephew also worked there for 4 years. When the older man passed away, the nephew was told if he missed work, for the funeral, he would be terminated. They require you to sign a form that allows them access to your medical records if you want the company health benefits.

I have been working at Emerson

    Pros

There are many opportunities for advancement and numerous business units throughout the world. Good work environment and people are friendly in general.

    Cons

You must sacrifice family life with extensive traveling to move up in the organization. The work life balance is weighted toward work at 65%.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ensure that promotions are based on merit and experience not just where you went to B school at. The people with the knowledge are leaving.
