    I worked at Emerson

    Pros

    Large company
Opportunity to advance if you are willing to move to MO
Ability to travel if you wish

    Cons

Divisions do not carry "larger company" mentality and tend to be "good old boys" network.
    Poor vacation time offerings
    Limited healthcare insurance options
Sites run largely independently and seem "less than corporate" sometimes

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Watch what is going on at sites within the divisions, have high-potential "summits" once a year to bring together young talent to build interest in the larger company as a whole.

    I worked at Emerson

    Pros

Emerson is a large company that has an excellent track. It isn't a company that everyone recognize because it is conglomeration of many recognized companies (Rigid tools, Insinkerator, Closet Maid, knaack)

    Cons

Employee discounts on the home use items mentioned are not worth it. It may be slightly cheaper but after shipping it more expensive than walking into Home Depot and buying it on sale.
It follows the typical large company practices - move all the jobs to Asia and leave a few business/sales people in the US.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company has to make shareholders happy but they need to do the impossible and keep jobs in the United States.
