Emory Campus Life

Associate Director (Former Employee) Decatur, GA

ProsEmory is filled with a diverse palate of wonderful people who really do good work for the university and in their lives. Of course there are "bastions of insanity" but there are also very good departments within the division of campus life and outside of it.

ConsAs much as Emory touted their belief in life/work balance, there are several managers who do not believe in that. Even working from home one day a week, or trying to work a compressed work schedule ( in a non busy season) was frowned up. That sort of inflexibility and an unwillingness to meet their needs of their employees is tough to take! While there are always a few positions that won't be able to share in such options, it would be nice if managers tried to fight for their employees needs and found ways to meet them halfway. This would boost morale.

Advice to Senior ManagementWhile there are always a few positions that won't be able to share in work/life balance options, it would be nice if managers tried to fight for their employees needs and found ways to meet them halfway.- especially when these are the same people who work their tails off during the academic year! This would boost morale and make Emory a great place to work again.

Strong leadership and clear strategic plan made work at Emory a very satisfying experience

Associate Vice President (Former Employee) Atlanta, GA

I worked at Emory University full-time for more than 5 years

Pros: Outstanding leaders who were generally very accessible. Highly inclusive in that there were many opportunities for employees at all levels to generate ideas and/or provide appropriate… Cons: Human Resources department, ironically, was the most difficult department with which to work. Very difficult to get real live people to answer calls… Advice to Senior Management: Emory is a well-run institution with a great deal of… Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend More
