Pros

- Competitive pay and benefits
- International opportunities
- Used to be good at training people
There are still a number of great people left in the organization after the recent downsizing. When I worked there, the work/life balance was very good; that may not be the case any longer so try talking with current employees when considering opportunities with Energizer.

Cons

Energizer is facing a declining battery market and is struggling with market forces with its other brands (Playtex & Schick). This is forcing the company to make some difficult decisions for it's long-term survival. Much of the innovation which was taking place in battery and lighting has been gutted to shore up near-term profitability. If you are considering a career with Energizer, you will want to be located in either St. Louis, Asheboro NC or one of the Personal Care locations. Positions at the Westlake and Bennington facilities are likely to be short-term (and high-stress) as the company's restructuring continues over the next few years. Colleagues who were retained after the recent downsizing have said they're looking to leave Energizer (at least in the EHP division) because the culture and environment have changed so drastically.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

As you continue to deal with the declining battery market, you are going to need to find ways to re-invent yourself. Invest in innovation, look at longer horizons. Once EHP and EPC are divided, you're going to have to either become more competitive or get acquired by a larger organization.

    Pros

Pay is reasonably good. The people are awesome. Some of the benefits could be considered good by most standards.

    Cons

Senior leadership needs to listen to their customer teams. The division between Energizer Personal Care and the battery side of the business is odd... Lots of restructuring and recently they announced they they would split into two publicly traded companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Again trust your teams on the ground... If the team says it's not going to work chances are they aren't going to work...

    Pros

Great benefits and work-life balance. Great employee training programs. Flexible work schedules. Great salary. People willing to help.

    Cons

Poor performance review system. Employee development by managers needs improvement. Energizer is going through some rough times and laid off a significant portion of their work force and closed plants. Interesting one year after consolidating the Personal Care and Household products business, they have split up the companies. While batteries will be a cash cow, the battery business is declining. The current culture is not good due to the lay-offs.
