I have been working at England Logistics full-time (more than a year)

Pros

They pay decently and are always doing company activities to help boost company moral. They are good to deal with to create a balanced home and work life. The work schedule is really nice and good for a family. Benefits are a bit pricey but good. It is overall a comfortable place to work at and has the capability of being a really good employer with some adjustments.

Cons

They have moved away from their roots of hard work pays off. They will promote and hire anyone who has a degree whether the are qualified for the position. Given the choice of a experienced well qualified applicant or current employee versus a new college graduate with no experience they will choose the person with the piece of paper. Again there is no room to advance if you don't have a degree even if you are a hard worker. It is a popularity contest the same people are always getting recognized. Last they are all about their account managers and senior account managers but fail to recognize others that help support the company and enable the ability for those individuals to succeed.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider a degree or equivalent experience especially in the sales positions, you are really missing out on valuable assets within your own company. Also this way of doing business is destroying moral. Also focus on the company as a whole rather than account managers versus everyone else. It is growing pains for sure but these adjustments would help with moral and decrease turnover.

Probably the WORST company I've ever worked for.

    Pros

A decent base pay but the commission is not there. Lot's of friendly people who work there but it can be hard to really get to know anyone because you are so tied to your phone. The company itself hits record numbers, but doesn't reward the employees who helped get them there.

    Cons

Strict ramp goals. Much favoritism in promotions. Terribly expensive insurance. Long hours including weekends with no overtime pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward employees when they hit record breaking numbers with more perks than just dress down and bagels. Getting to wear jeans one week after helping earn the company millions doesn't quite cut it. I've seen many many talented people come and go because they don't feel they have been compensated fairly for their hard work.

I have been working at England Logistics full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Pros are few. The people are what make this a great place to work. I've met some amazing people who work extremely hard to try and make it here as account managers. Most of the LCs are really great and will help you out as much as possible. 7-4 shift so you get home early. They try to do company activities that will make everyone feel more involved. You do get recognized for success.

    Cons

Don't be fooled that this is a "sales" position. It's not a bad first time full-time corporate job opp but if you've got sales experience or pretty much any real job experience avoid the call center environment that is England Logistics. You are micromanaged with immense amounts of tracking and expected to make tons of phone calls to cold leads. And when I say cold leads, I mean cold hard leads. The ramp (sales goal attainment) is unsustainable. I asked to see it in the interview and thought it wasn't too bad but after a few months out on the floor I realized that the ever climbing and unattainable ramp will eventually push you out of a job. The turnover is high. Higher than any other company I've worked at before.
Expect to lose leads you develop to Senior Account Managers after you work to build up dormant business accounts. When people are fired or quit the existing accounts are supposed to be divided equally among the rest of your team but are often given to whoever your manager likes the most.
The job can be extremely stressful and for some often requires extra hours staying late or early or even coming in over the weekends. Part of that is because this is the transportation industry and things go wrong all the time. You have to take an after hours cell phone home with you for a week and work a Saturday once every few months without extra pay. The commissions are a joke for the amount of work required. Also, upper management seems to be quite out of touch with the people out on the floor doing the dirty work that brings in all the revenue.
I could go on and on with other things but you get the idea. Most people on the floor start looking for new opportunities within a few months of starting the job. The daily grind is exhausting and usually extremely stressful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more in touch with your floor reps and crack down on favoritism. Quit letting SAMs steal leads they haven't been working from lower level AMs. You've got to do something about the real level of morale and the ramp and commissions or you will never get professionals who will stick around for the long run.
