Pros

salary and other financial compensation, really nice people

Cons

health insurance plans, PTO, lack of flexibility with work schedule, no telecommuting

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Evaluate your benefits and bring them in line with comparably sized companies. Seriously lacking in areas other than salary/401k/stock purchase.

Terrible place for IT professionals to work. Very immature but centralized IT environment where politics triumph merit.

Current Employee - Software Architect in Houston, TX

I have been working at Enterprise Products full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Decent benefits 401K match; subsidized parking/transportation.

    Cons

Highly political and centralized envionment in IT. Managers have no clue about technology and are micro managers. No place to grow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn from people who have joined you from outside and do an honest introspection as to where you can improve. Be prepared to challenge status quo and implement change. Higher external consultants from Booze or McKinsey to completely reorg and change your IT organization. Make every individual in IT reapply for their jobs.
