I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Very few form the lucky and popular employees willing to drink and kiss up to management.

Cons

Work life balance is frowned upon. They are not growing any longer.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at the city manager level. Most do not follow the founding values.

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

You will learn a LOT about customer service, sales, and how to make money for your business. You also get to work with (for the most part) very cool people who are around your age that you will become good friends with. You also get a very competitive training program to put on your resume. You could also make the extremely competitive environment a pro.

    Cons

Not enough money. Period. They pay everyone the same, throughout the country, based on the cost of living in St. Louis. Guess what? It's EXPENSIVE to live in California. And considering you're working 50 hour weeks and doing extremely unglamorous things like washing cars, dealing with lots of crazy people who don't qualify to even rent a car, hunting cars down, and dealing with body shops and car dealerships, it's just ridiculous the little amount of money they pay you. One in a cheaper part of the country might disagree, but you'd think a multi-billion dollar (and growing) company would have a cost-of-living adjustment. They also tell you you're going to make a certain amount of money that's actually about 10 thousand dollars per year less than the reality. The number they give you in your interview is if you sell one car per month and have at least one or two employee referrals per year. And that doesn't happen. It's basically just like every other sales job where they promise you the world to get you to drink the kool-aid. Only difference here is that they pay you--although it's not much--and call it a Management Training Program. You will see there are two different types of managers at Enterprise: the ones who are smart and legitimately good at what they do and have worked their way up quickly, and then the ones who are almost incompetent and don't have anywhere better to go (and have drank the kool-aid) who just stick around until eventually they get promoted because there's nobody better than them at the time. Also, it turns into a very high school-ish atmosphere, where everyone is dating everyone because, well, you're spending the vast majority of your time at work, when you work at Enterprise Rent-a-Car.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Well there's not much management can do about the amount of money they pay their employees as it is set by corporate in St. Louis, and there's also not much they can do about the job. Manager's hands are tied.
