Pros

Smart People
Flexible Hours
Great Salary
Work is Interesting
Managers - Some managers are better than others. I've had fantastic ones, and I've had mediocre ones.
Great on a Resume

Bottom line, the company is what you make of it. If you're honest and forthcoming about what you want you can make a great career at the company.

Cons

* Poor Morale - There is high turnover for implementation due to the workloads and people not knowing how to manage their time. This bleeds to other areas of the company.
* VB6 - Enough said
* Managers - Some managers are better than others. I've had fantastic ones, and I've had mediocre ones.
* Winter is coming
* "Stock Options" are a joke (vest after 5 years, only get appreciation rights)
* They've been improving in processes but expect some new hurdle to jump through every couple of months to get your work done. It sucks, but some do actually work. A stupid one recently was a metric to get development into QA within 10 days of it being marked as complete. I've had logs where the quickest that was possible would be 100 hours of linear time.

Advice to Management

Vet your TLs more consistently. I feel like a commodity to some team leaders and a valuable asset to others. Work on improving morale and retention. Allow people to move teams easier. Stop wasting people's time with hurdles, because not everything can be captured in a metric.

    Pros

    The pay is great fresh out of college, and there are lots of nice benefits (eg. weekend travel, hotel and airline points). Everyone is very intelligent and capable. Employees get good experience in working with clients, thinking critically, and knowing how to respond to customers and keep cool in tough situations. You have the chance to build solid relationships with your clients.

    Cons

    Relatively little room for growth career-wise. People that have been there for 10 years do the same thing as people that have been there for 1 year, with different degrees of efficiency. There's an expectation to provide a high degree of customer service and also contribute to projects internally to stand out, but different customers require different amounts of attention so that's not always easy.

    Great people, but misguided management.

    Pros

    You will get to work with really interesting people and the pay is great for someone fresh out of college. You also have the chance to take ownership of issues and change the way things are done. Unfortunately, the vast majority of the changes that are blessed by the powers that be involve everyone on your team having to do extra work.

    Cons

    Rather than letting the people they hire largely on the basis of their intelligence act independently, there is a heavy focus on following processes. Management is constantly inventing new ones, which you can either follow and stay that many more hours late per week, or ignore and be reprimanded. Epic also will not write you letters of recommendation, which can hurt when job hunting in the future.

    Advice to Management

    The company prides itself on hiring smart people. Let those people do their jobs instead of filling out spreadsheets and Word document templates all day.
