Former Employee - Membership Advisor  in  New York, NY
Former Employee - Membership Advisor in New York, NY

Pros

The "trendy" factor is good for a little while, but don't expect to be rewarded for loyalty or time served. If successful, opportunity to earn 90k a year is totally achievable, but good luck having time to spend the money.

Cons

You're only as good as your last sale. If you don't sell, you're out in 3 months. The base is non-existent, hence the motivation to sell. There is little to no work/life balance. There is a "closeout" at the end of each month, which consists of 12+ hour shifts during the last 4 days every month, no matter what days they may fall on. (Weekends-Holidays-Etc.)

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase the base.

Current Employee - Front Desk in Mamaroneck, NY

    Pros

The staff is great.. Free gym membership and 40% off of the spa and shop.

    Cons

The front desk is super stressful. Someone really needs to have 8 arms to keep up with the check-ins, phone and spa. Plus, members complain to us first. It would be easier to work there if I wasn't paid so little to deal with so much.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needs to be at lease two employees there during down time. We can't even leave to use the bathroom sometimes.

Former Employee - Massage Therapist  in  Palo Alto, CA
Former Employee - Massage Therapist in Palo Alto, CA

    Pros

Being a former employee I was able to work with and learn skills and knowledge of how important fitness is. As a massage therapist, I worked with excellent and knowledgeable personal trainers that helped me expand my work for a more complete assessment and strategy.

    Cons

Most members of the club come to workout and not visit the spa

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Advertise the spa more to the public. This will attract more clients to the spa but also leave potential for new members of the club.
