Company Events

Cons

They eliminate positions and demote pay grades
They use people
They are money hungry
They mistreat their residents
They only promote Caucasians into higher management positions
They have incompetent supervisors and managers
They seem not to care about properties with minorities
They over work employees to cut cost
If someone doesn’t like you they push you out the door

Advice to Management

Care more about your employees and residents who dont live on grade A properties. Pay according to the work and show you appreciate your employees.

    Pros

If you live in an Equity Residential building, you get a rent discount. They have a great training program. The benefits package was decent.

    Cons

They expect too much of the employees at large properties. I was doing the job of two people. They also secret shop you, requiring you to say certain things and forcing your pitch. You are allowed no freedom as a salesperson to read the customer, no matter how many performance awards you've received.

If you live on the property, the discount is not enough to deal with never leaving work. Fire alarm? Crazy resident? Walking your dog? You are always on duty. Only the Property Manager gets to live on site for free. The Assistant Manager deals with just as many hassles, sometimes more, but only gets 20%.

Corporate pep rallies are excruciating. They made us dress up and the executives showed up in suits. It's tough to have a professional, face to face with your boss while wearing a football jersey and a boa. They seemed to like it that way.

    Advice to Management

Give bigger rent discounts to lower level employees. The company/buildings always benefit when its managment lives on-site. Complaints are taken care of before reported, management is more aware, and crisis management is smoother and more efficient. Please acknowledge financially the extra work on-site living naturally brings.

    Pros

You get benefits, but have to "complete tasks" every year to keep them. For instance, last year we had to take this long survey that asked way to may personal questions. this year we have schedule a physical. It's just too much for people who already work late hours and weekends to worry about.

    Cons

Everything. Pay sucks. Commission Sucks. Don't even think about getting a promotion. (unless your in the secret equity society)

    Advice to Management

    You're losing great employees.
