I have been working at Erie County Medical Center

    Pros

Its the only Level One Trauma Center in the area, its always interesting. Health insurance, holidays, overtime, are all great perks.

    Cons

The more you do, the more you are expected to do, while those that do close to nothing, continue doing nothing.

    Advice to Management

Talk to the people who do the work, make decisions with the help of those the decision influences the most.

    Pros

Great people to work with. The staff definitely will go above and beyond to satisfy patients and their families.

    Cons

Management disconnect. Needs better communication with the night shift. Management needs to step up and stand behind and with the nurses when patients and their families become abusive towards the nurses. Short staffed at all times especially the night shift.

    Advice to Management

Hire more per diem nurses as well as ancillary staff, that can take the burden off of us. Simple things such as bringing some water and blankets takes away time from us to do a complex wound dressing or recognizing that a patient is in distress.
