I have been working at Erie Insurance Group part-time for more than a year

Pros

The people, atmosphere, culture, and goals are awesome. Systems are easy to use and efficient. HR really does a great job finding great people to work here.

Cons

Management is very overreaching, can at times seem condescending. Work/life balance is non-existent. If you have something come up short notice, well, that's too bad. You WILL find someone to cover you or you WILL be there. Vacation time must be scheduled very far in advance and is more times than not denied.

I have been working at Erie Insurance Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good work life balance. Pleasant facilities. Co-workers are supportive. Recently there has been some action in cleaning up the old school managers who refused to change.

    Cons

Not a lot of room for advancement. Managers tend to play favorites for promotions. A lot of politics in a culture where families have worked for decades.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Add more transparency to prevent employees from feeling the deck is stacked against them.
