  1. Helpful (4)

Trim the fat - redundant VPs and EDs, and business would be far more efficient.

I have been working at Estée Lauder Companies full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good work/life balance. Time is pretty flexible. Great products/company store Good opportunities for travel (but not training) In certain fortunate groups, promotion is almost inevitable if you do the time (whether you are competent or not) Good opportunities for lateral movement within the company and the brands

    Cons

Very laid back job (good and bad) - like many reviewers have mentioned, there is no sense of immediacy and simple projects can endlessly languish. For most projects, there is a much higher ratio of VPs and EDs involved than the people that actually get things accomplished. Ironically, when problems occur, career preservation perseveres, and very few of these entrenched managers are motivated to take a leadership role when responsibility and risk are involved. Meaningful training and advanced schooling are minimally recognized, encouraged or supported.

    Advice to Management

Walk the walk. There are way too many upper level managers/administration with overlapping responsibilities. Trim this fat quickly and decisively, reward individuals with proven and successful results, truly seek and encourage leadership at every level, and support training and education. These things are severely unsupported at this time.

I worked at Estée Lauder Companies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

career advancement, bonus opportunities, great perks, great benefits

    Cons

popularity contest, turn and burn, not much training, communication

    Advice to Management

Think about what you say to your employees and how it affects them. People work for people. The company has an established reputation, but you affect your employees directly.
