I have been working at Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Excellent training program, extremely flexible scheduling, if you do Data Review you can work from home, positive co-workers.

Cons

They get extremely mad if you make a mistake and will put you in the little room with the bosses and tell you that you will get fired if you do it again.

Advice to Management

Try to be more encouraging, staff meetings are all about how bad everyone's work is and a lot of negative feedback.

People are only numbers. The bottom line is more important.

I have been working at Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Immediate coworkers are fantastic, good people.

    Cons

Lack of communication, lack of vision, lack of leadership. No longer a "family friendly" company. Increasing "through put" is now the new paradigm. Micromanagement is rampant. New owners are rolling through the company making sweeping changes that are placing the company 2 steps backwards.

    Advice to Management

Listen to current employees' concerns and ideas. Show respect for your employees. Stop treating staff as if we were children.

    Dominated by Metrics

I worked at Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

My coworkers are all wonderful, intelligent, and down-to-earth people.

    Cons

Management has gotten ridiculous the past few years. The focus really has shifted away from quality of work to volume of work, and the workplace is dominated by daily updates of certain metrics and other various numbers. Management at a certain level doesn't know about situations from day-to-day that can affect these metrics and when something goes wrong, the chemist/biologists/scientists are nearly always to blame. They want people in their groups who care about the business, but they do nothing to make people care ($25 gift card for Christmas after a year of 15% growth?) There is barely any room to move up.

    Advice to Management

Get your collective head out of the spreadsheets, and really try to understand the situation. Morale has been tanking for quite some time in most places, but you don't seem to care as long as there are bodies in the seats.
