I have been working at European Wax Center full-time (less than an year)

Pros

Let's see..Nope, can't think of any.

Cons

Overworked and grossly underpaid. Micromanaged does not even begin to describe it. Horrible hours and the "training" provided is a joke. If you like to work ridiculous hours, make practically minimum wage, don't mind working with inexperienced/incompetent people and have the ability to oversell products that under perform, this may be a great job for you. Otherwise - Keep on looking! (That's what I'm doing...but nobody will hire me with this dump on my resume!)

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of all the crappy products that don't even work along with the over-pushy sales tactics used to sell them. Provide better training to inexperienced estheticians. Focus on quality over quantity. Give your employees a much-needed pay raise. Allow for a better work life balance. Tone down micromanagement. Use higher quality wax that doesn't kill clients. Hire better quality employees that don't continue to damage the company's already shotty reputation. Stop opening more locations before all the current ones can even get on their feet. Stop advertising free services. (Doing this only brings in cheap clients who cannot afford the already under priced services who never come back. Waste of time and products.)

    Pros

Decent pay, great potential to earn money if the center is supported by an amazing team. The difference between successful centers and ones that don't do well is the management! The also provide excellent, intensive corporate training, which makes you feel extremely prepared. Great family atmosphere as well.

    Cons

The manager, was terrible, We went through two of them in six months, they do not have any procedures as far as background checks, so there were a couple of employees who had not so stellar criminal backgrounds, they were eventually terminated but the turnover rate is fairly high. I also this that EWC should be more involoved in the management selection process as well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be professional, when it comes to selecting a manager, make sure its one with experience, and someones stable and mature enough to handle ALL the responsibilities. You should appreciate your employees more, especially since they are the people interacting with guest day in & out.

I worked at European Wax Center part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The owners built the Costa Mesa, Ca center with NO BREAK ROOM...that should tell you plenty. They also refused to provide drinking water and did not hire a cleaning service. So when you weren't doing an impossible 15 minute Brazilian....you were cleaning the center.
Thirsty after all that? Too bad, bring your own water. Tired? No break room, eat in the same room on the same table you just waxed 5 vagina's on.

    Cons

Our manager refused to ask guests if they'd like to leave a tip bc the script from HQ's says not to unless they're paying with credit card.
This is to ensure that any extra money the guest has will go to PRODUCTS, not the waxer. They pay $8 an hour with 5% commission...nothing! So you'll be broke after long days of busting your butt selling products and doing 15 minute Brazilians.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop hiring your unqualified best friends to manage facilities. Treat people decently, simple as that.
