I have been working at Exelis as a contractor for more than a year

Pros

Good pay, good vacation package, benefits are decent,

Cons

Lower management sucks. Instead of showing appreciation and encouraging employees to think outside the box or try to improve the process they find fault and throw them under the bus.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a strong look at your management and leads. The negativity that comes from them creates a hostile work enviroment and DOES NOT PROMOTE A TEAM ATMOSPHERE.

Negative Outlook

I have been working at Exelis as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

They will probably hire you, and will sponsor the clearances that you may need and can qualify for.

    Cons

ITT Exelis explicitly has no interest in building any long-term teams among their contractors. At a meeting we were told that Exelis plans for 30% turn-over per year, so they expect you to leave after no more than 3 years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Yes, contractors are an asset and can be replaced as easily as any other widgets, but it really is demoralizing to be told so.
