    Pros

Good people, good benefits, and the ability to work from home at times.

    Cons

The top executive most the environment uncomfortable with a lack of transparency and closed door decisions. He often plays favorites with people he 'likes' making the work environement uncomfortable for those he 'dislikes', regardless of ability or performance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Loosen the purse strings, show the employee's that they matter and are valued. Allow for more visibility into senior management decisions and provide better annual raises based on performance. Giving everyone at the company a standard percentage is not fair, especially when some employee's use sick leave as vacation on a weekly basis.

    I worked at Exostar

    Pros

Only hires experienced employees - no newbies allowed. A Pro because everyone is typically very competent in their fields. Offered a good work life balance. Many employees are remote, which is odd for such a small company.

    Cons

The only experienced hire practice means a poor career development track. Employee are pigeon-holed and not allowed to grow. As a software-as-a-service company, the culture does not allow for much creativity and there is stagnation at the top management level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Shake it up. The grow-then-contract model has been done too many times before. The company needs to look outside the A&D world so that it can operate as a true SaaS instead of a shared services company of its founding partners.
