Pros

A lot of smart people, good investment in meaningful projects. Good recruitment, competitive and fair salaries. Great off-site meeting once a year. Big budgets mean your work has a significant impact.

Cons

Long development cycles mean projects can take forever. Poor retention of talent.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Admit that despite your saying otherwise, this is a highly political organisation.

    Pros

    Talented and smart colleagues. Also, the combination of travel and online puts it at the leading edge of online marketing.

    Cons

    Senior people, veeps and s veeps, employ management by numbers in both the litteral and allegorical senses. They have little sense of direction and therefore strategy suffers.

    Lead by example and don't delegate complexity.

    Pros

    Lot of opportunities to shine because upper management is pretty weak, so you can look fairly strong compared to VP level people.

    Cons

    Weak management at a senior level, especially in North America. Management is so focused on short term results that they aren't investing in the core business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Set the direction and empower people to execute. Stop thinking about hitting next quarters numbers and invest a little in the core platform. Get your technology sorted out, break the HTX code. Need to give the business back to people with some vision and reduce the impact or control of finance on the entire company. The HR department is incompetent - I think we need a change in direction.
