I have been working at Expeditors

Pros

Company is very stable and secure. Never made any layoffs in over 30 years. Benefits package is decent, which includes transportation to work.

Cons

All male employees must wear a tie, even the developers who never see clients. When you get a promotion, no raise comes with it. Many supervisors and managers seem to be yes-men. Explanations of why new policies have been introduced are extremely poor. Lots of smoke and mirrors.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Question your own managers before unleashing these absurd new policies to your departments. Promote people who are able to communicate well.

    I worked at Expeditors

    Pros

The only good thing is the medical coverage they provide which covers the whole family for free.

    Cons

More emphsis on the "Professional" apperance than the actually work being done. Many of the communications are not getting to the senior management. Many of the promotions place people in leadership position who does not have experience in that area they are in charge of. There is also lots of politics, the people who are promoted played it well. Also the pay is below average from the same position in other companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promoting from within is great, but place the people who actually have experience in the area they are in charge of, also promote for merit rather than how good they sound. The company says that the employees are the company's most important asset, but the pay don't reflect that.

    -Communication issues

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to morale, employee retention & satisfaction.
The employees are the backbone in which the company runs.

Without them, your success is limited, and the potential for more will always exist.
