Low Pay, Poor Management, Nepotism and Stay Away From IS Dept

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Seattle, WA

Pros- great prime time location in downtown seattle
- free bus pass
- medical package
- most of the people are great

Cons- no room for growth
- nepotism
- too conservative
- senior management is unreasonable with personal requests
- maternity leave is too short
- low balls pay
- integrity is not observed here when people play blame games
- some mid management micro-manage and could take a management class on how to work with employees
- too many rules here, it seems that people have to watch their backs with what they do

Advice to Senior Managementpeople should think twice before coming here to work.

there are depts that are far more conservative than others. saw a few too many promoted that did not deserve it and others that do deserve it- they get overlooked because of nepotism/brown nosing.

IS dept is too corrupt and a very high turn over rate. some mid management people need to learn how to observe their team members. (insert favortism here)

other depts after observing, have it worse. some depts dont have any growth because people are so comfortable with their jobs for 10+ years. so the younger generation, start looking elsewhere, there is no such thing as growth here. oh and pay, it's insulting.

this is an old school company, i suggest that upper management take some time and talk to their employees and see what they really think. a lot of people leave because of this negligence.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Pros: Company is very stable and secure. Never made any layoffs in… Cons: All male employees must wear a tie, even the developers who never see clients. When you get a promotion, no raise comes with it.… Advice to Senior Management: Question your own managers before unleashing these absurd new policies to… More

Not a Fun place to work, "Professionals"

Systems Administrator (Former Employee) Seattle, WA

    I worked at Expeditors

Pros: The only good thing is the medical coverage they provide… Cons: More emphsis on the "Professional" apperance than the actually work being done. Many of the communications are not getting to the senior management. … Advice to Senior Management: Promoting from within is great, but place the people who actually have experience in the area they are in charge of, also promote for merit… More
