Pros

Location in Southern California
Unique position in industry provides unique opportunity for growth.
Range of opportunities in IT available, mainframe & distributed technologies.

Cons

Some groups have been severely impacted by off-shoring.
Company seems to be getting top-management heavy. General trend is to migrate IT positions offshore and this has lead to job stability in certain areas.
Not enough attention is being paid to core technical competencies, it seems the general skill level is in decline.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better investment in employee skill set and competencies.
Training and retaining highly skilled employees.

Nice stable place to work as long as career development and excitement is not high on your priority list.

I have been working at Experian Americas

    Pros

This is a relatively stable company with many business units (credit monitoring, lead generation, research, marketing services, etc.) and diverse revenue streams. This means plenty of opportunities regardless of your skill sets and interests. Working environment is stable and not too hectic.

    Cons

This company has all the feel of an old school company with an old boy network running things. It is bureaucratic and does not exhibit much speed, and the culture lacks excitement. One business unit often doesn't know what other business units are doing or what they are about. Pay/benefit packages and career development programs are meager.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better cross business unit communication and education, so that employees feel like they are part of a cohesive whole with a unified vision & strategy and that they know where they fit in this vision.

I have been working at Experian Americas

    Pros

    Great place to gain experience.
    International spirit
    Positive attitude towards people

Although it is quite hard to get promoted in Experian, it turned that if you demonstrate your results patiently to your managers, finally they will notice it and get you promoted.

    Cons

No clear vision for the future
It is not clear that the leaders know what they are doing
Great unused potential - different regions acting as separate companies
Sales are promoted much faster than others. If you are Business development - in the right place in the right time, you could have a tremendous career in Experian.
A lot of knowledgeable people have left the company and all of us can feel it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Use the potential of the people.
Stop thinking in short term %-age increase of revenue
    Communicate, communicate, communicate
